End of Day 1

It's the end of the day.  We did pretty well, I suppose.  I (Tom) trained briefly with 1 dog by myself and then 2 times with 2 other dogs along with Susan.  Seems easy enough, just a lot to keep in mind and all we were doing was walking and having the dogs sit and lie down.  One dog didn't obey a couple times so I got to correct it.  Not with the jerk of the lead - that doesn't happen until tomorrow.  I just said "don't" and repeated the command.  Worked like a charm.

There are 12 dogs in the process and 7 recipients (1 is a facility recipient who will use her dog with her work in a nursing home, 2 are people in wheelchairs who will take care of the dog themselves (one of those is actually getting a successor dog.   Her current dog is retiring after 10 years, though the family is keeping him.) the other 4 recipients are actually teams - Susan and I included, where the parents, or in our case me, will be the "facilitator" and will be the one doing most of the control of the dog.  The other 3 teams are all for kids from 5Th to 11Th grade.

That's about it for now.  Gearing up for tomorrow, already did our homework and took our 3 take home quizzes.
